Nijmegen Student Encampment disrupts Radboud Career Day

Alongside student activists across the globe, Radboud’s own students have taken action against the arms and fossil-fuel industries by dispiriting the career event today that sought to entice students to join the industries that make the genocide possible. No more business, no more bombs!

While Israel continues its onslaught against the Palestinian people, Radboud and Alexandra van Huffelen continues to ignore, suppress and whitewash its ties to the Zionist state and the carbon industry. Part of this whitewashing includes inviting firms that have direct ties to the ecological crises, the genocide in Palestine, and the arms industries, to recruit students to join their ranks. Radboud decided, against popular opinion, to invite Aeves Benefit, who work closely with the Dutch military and oil/gas titans like Shell, and is known for its terrible ecological record (DitchCarbon). Radboud is also promoting Infor, who research aerospace and “defence” software during a time of ecological disaster and Orwellian control from the Big Tech industry.

The inclusion of BDO group is particularly abhorrent: BDO Group proudly boasts of their innovative work in israeli cybersecurity projects (CTech 2022), and in particular in enhancing israel’s “offensive” capabilities, which entails both the genocide in Gaza and the existing system of apartheid in Palestine.

Furthermore, BDO Group invests and is deeply implicated in the climate crises currently engulfing the Global South, and as a consultancy firm is closely linked with efforts to greenwash the industries ecocide and climate destruction.

Make no mistake: BDO Group facilitates ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank. We refuse to give them space on our campus.

Business as usual at Radboud is funding genocide and climate crises. Until our university takes a stance against the apartheid in Palestine, against the carbon industry and big tech, we will continue to hit Radboud where it hurts: their pockets. By disrupting these events, we disrupt the business model that makes ecocide and genocide so profitable.

Boycott, divest: we will not stop, nor will we rest.
